Qaren قارِن Beta
by AnaFiles

Compare two lists. See what's new, gone and changed.

Upload two Excel or CSV files, two sheets of one workbook, or one sheet with two columns. Pick the column that identifies each row (Qaren suggests one) and get every row that is new, removed or changed, cell by cell, and the duplicates in each list.

+New and removedRows in one list and not the other, each with its full row.
≠Changed, cell by cellThe old value, the new value and the difference, for every column that changed.
×2DuplicatesKeys used more than once in each list, with exact copies marked.
⇄Smart matching1,250.00 equals 1250, 00123 equals 123, and columns pair up even when their headers differ.

Questions

What does Qaren do?

It compares two lists, such as last month's price list and this month's, two customer lists or two exports of the same report. Rows are paired by a key column (a code, number, email or name), and you see which rows are only in one list, which changed and in which cells, and which keys are used more than once.

Which files can I compare?

Two Excel (.xlsx, .xlsm) or CSV files, two sheets of one workbook, or two columns of one sheet. CSV and text in any encoding (UTF-8, UTF-16, Windows-1256) and the ".xls" files many systems export that are really web pages. Headers can be in Arabic, English or French. Old binary .xls files need saving as .xlsx first.

What if the two files are written differently?

Qaren compares values, not text: 1,250.00 equals 1250, a date stored as text equals a real date, 00123 equals 123, and case, extra spaces and Arabic letter variants (أ/ا, ة/ه) don't count unless you want them to. Columns pair up by name, by meaning across languages, or by their values when the headers differ. You can change every choice.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free during the beta, with no sign-up and no cookies. A list can have up to 100,000 rows, and a file up to 25 MB.

What happens to my files?

They are kept in memory only to compare them, and deleted within 30 minutes. Nothing from your files is stored or shared. The results are for you to check.

Comparing bank or account statements?

Use Mutabaqa, also by AnaFiles: it matches debits with credits, split payments and late postings, and explains the difference between the balances. To clean a messy export first, use Naqqi.
